I am a health services researcher primarily interested in outcomes research, comparative/cost effectiveness, and predictive analytics. My expertise is in the use of large health care databases including Medicaid and Medicare claims, the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP), the National Surgical Quality Improvement Project, and panel surveys like the Health Retirement Study (HRS) and the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS). I am currently exploring machine learning and data mining methods and their applications in health services research. As a team scientist, my research has encompassed a broad array of clinical fields including pediatrics, epilepsy, orthopedic surgery, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, neuro and spine surgery, organ transplant, and oncology.
