Satya Sahoo, PhD, has been named a Senior Member of the IEEE, the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology. Through its global membership, IEEE is a leading authority on areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power, and consumer electronics.
Dr. Sahoo’s work focuses on the development of computational techniques to leverage multi-modal biomedical big data in the study of human diseases, with a particular focus on neurological disorders such as epilepsy. Notably, he has collaborated in the development of a semantic provenance metadata platform to ensure scientific reproducibility and data quality in the era of big data.
Known as IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E,” the association traces its history back to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Its membership now includes computer scientists, software developers, information technology professionals, physicists, medical doctors, and many others in addition to IEEE’s electrical and electronics engineering core.
